Hollyleaf's Story

Released 13 March 2012, Hollyleaf's Story is the first e-book exclusive novella in the Warriors series. It detail'sHollyleaf's experiences while away from ThunderClan and her emotional odyssey towards coming to terms with her parentage and the events that caused her to leave her home.

Warriors: New Moon. A New Beginning: Chapter 4

Rosethorn, Hollyberry and Firestar walked slowly dragging Swiftnight's dead body. "They're back!" called Cinderpelt. "Swiftnight?" Pineleaf asked. "Dead." Rosethorn replied as she saw Firestar set the dead body on the ground. "What happened?" A orange queen asked. "A pack of dogs. That's what happened." Rosethorn said as she went to see Cinderpelt. Firestar went to clean Swiftnight's dead body. As did Pineleaf. After sharing tongues Firestar leaped on the High Stone. "Swiftnight was a honest and loyal deputy. She saved many lives from when WindClan attacked us many moons ago..." Firestar said as he raised his head to the dark blue sky. "WindClan attacked ThunderClan many moons ago?" Hollyberry asked Pineleaf in confusion. "Yes. Just after you left the camp." said Pineleaf. "Swiftnight is now with StarClan. We will never forget Swiftnight. As for our new deputy, Hollyberry, you are smart and wise. You will be the ThunderClan deputy." said Firestar as he raised his head up. Hollyberry flinched. She's the deputy. "Thank you Firestar. I will do my best to keep this clan safe." said Hollyberry. "I know you will." Firestar nodded with trust in his eyes.
 "It's almost time for the Gathering. We should go." said Hawkeye. "Your right." said Firestar. The Clan traveled to Fourtrees and as he saw WindClan, his body was filled with rage. Firestar leaped on a high rock. Then he noticed they had a new leader. The leader looked like... Firestar. The Clans all met. "I am     Flamestar. New leader of WindClan." said Flamestar. Firestar saw something in his eyes. Something, evil. "I never seen you before. Where's the deputy? He should be leader." said Blackstar. "He died with the leader from a difficult battle." said Flamestar. "That doesn't sound like Onestar at all." Hollyberry whispered in Firestar's ear. Firestar flinched. She was right! Onestar would never die that easily! "Flamestar, Your Clan attacked our Clan." said Rosethorn. "Ahh! Rosethorn, Hollyberry, you returned." said Flamestar. "Wait! How do you know us?" Hollyberry asked. "Umm, I see Swiftnight is not here." said the deputy. "Yes he's not here! After you killed him!" hissed Hawkeye. "Who? Me? I did not such thing!" the deputy lied. "It looks like Firestar took quite a fight." said the deputy. Firestar growled quiet enough so the deputy couldn't hear him. "Hollyberry is my new deputy." said Firestar as Hollyberry walked beside him. "Ah! The wise one. Good choice!" said Blackstar. "Thank you. We are lucky to have her." said Firestar. "She looks like Bluestar." said Mistystar. "Flamestar! Why did you attack our Clan?!" hissed Rosethorn. "We did no such thing!" shouted the deputy. "Don't play dumb! You think we're mouse-brained?!" spat Rosethorn. "Quiet, Rosethorn!" Hissed Firestar as he flashed Rosethorn a look. Rosethorn stepped back and dipped her head. "Flamestar, is this true?" Blackstar asked. "No! My Clan did no such thing!" hissed Flamestar. He sure knows something... Hollyberry's thoughts swirled in her head. "Then who did?!" Hawkeye hissed. "You must have been dreaming." said Flamestar. "Swiftnight is dead. Firestar is wounded. AND YOU SUGGEST IT WAS A DREAM?!?!?!" Spat Hawkeye. "Hawkeye is right." said Mistystar. "Oh and what do you know!?" Spat the WindClan deputy. "Everyone shutup! This no time for arguing!" shouted Hollyleaf. "Your right, Hollyleaf. We should go. My Clan needs to rest." said Flameheart. All the clans departed and went back to their camps. ThunderClan rested. Firestar slept still confused why would WindClan attack them. Hollyberry thought. As she looked at Rosethorn, she saw her flinching. Grunting words. "Rosethorn. Rosethorn." Hollyberry whispered into Rosethorn's ears. Nugging Rosethorn with her paw. Rosethorn woke up immediately. "FIRESTAR!!!!!!!!!"

Warriors: New Moon. A New Beginning: Chapter 3

"Pack, pack. Kill, kill." the sound echoed through the den. "Dogs?! A pack of dogs?!?!" Rosethorn gave Hollyberry a face of confusion. "My nose doesn't lie, Rosethorn. I know it's dogs. I'm sure of it." Hollyberry corrected Rosethorn. "How are there dogs in the forest?! Someone would have led them." Rosethorn said with a lot of questions swirling in her mind. "I don't know, Rosethorn. If this is a pack of dogs, they sure aren't friendly." Hollyberry said as she was trying to find the scent again. They tried to see where the sound was coming from. Quickly they saw a pack of dogs with Firestar and Swiftnight. "Pack, pack. Kill, kill." The sound echoed through the forest once again. "We need to save them! They are going to die!" hissed Rosethorn. "What  are going to do?" Hollyberry asked. "I haven't figured that out yet but we need to get them." said Rosethorn.
"Follow me." Rosethorn crouched and hid behind a tree. Hollyberry followed her as terror rose through her body. Hollyberry flashed back in her kit years. Fire spred throughout the woods. Hollyberry was a kit.. She was in the nursery with her litermates and her mother . Hollyberry awoken from her flashback and saw a big Shepherd in front of her growling. "Get away from my FRIEND!" Rosethorn jumped on the Shepherd and bit his tail. He ran away yipping. "Thank you, Rosethorn. You saved my life!" said Hollyberry. "We need to help, Firestar!" shouted Rosethorn. "You get the dog with Swiftnight and I will get the dog with Firestar." Rosethorn ordered as she sped to the tree where Firestar was laying. "Got it!" Hollyberry sped to the tree with Swiftnight. five minutes has passed and Rosethorn killed the dog who had Firestar. She sped to the tree where Hollyberry was. Hollyberry was laying on the ground resting. Swiftnight was found dead.

                                          Chapter 2

"Owww!" hissed Hollyberry as she was trying to stand up. "You are badly hurt." Rosethorn said as she tried to help Hollyberry calm down. She had deep bites in her two back legs. The blood soaked the snow as she tried to stand. Cinderpelt walked over to Hollyberry. "Hmm. That's not good. Rosethorn, go and fetch me some cobwebs." Cinderpelt ordered as she tried to help Hollyberry. Rosethorn sped out of the clearing and got some cobwebs. "Here." Rosethorn gave, Cinderpelt the cobwebs and helped patch Hollyberry's wounds. "Feel better? Can you walk?" Cinderpelt asked.  Hollyberry nodded. "I think so." Hollyberry replied. "Hollyberry, Rosethorn, are you well enough to come to the search party?" Swiftnight asked. "Yes." The two warriors replied. "Good. We are going to need Hollyberry's navigation and scent to lead us to WindClan. And we are going to need Rosethorn if there is trouble." Swiftnight went and organized the search party as fast as he could. "Goodluck! Bring back Firestar before the Gathering!" A orange queen wished the warriors luck. And they were off. They left camp and onto a secret trail that led them strait to WindClan territory. Hollyberry sniffed the air. "I smell WindClan nearby." Hollyberry said as she walked to the front of the group to lead them to the smell. "It smells stronger." said Rosethorn.

 "Look!" called the deputy. "Firestar!" called Rosethorn. They found Firestar caught in metal wires. "Don't come any closer!" Firestar ordered. But it was too late. Hollyberry got caught. "Hollyberry! We need to get you guys out of there." said Pineleaf. "I think I can. I'm swift and can fit into tight places. I can get through without getting caught." Rosethorn explained as she squeezed into the wires. "Gah!..... I'm stuck...." Rosethorn grunted as she tried to get out with Hollyberry and Firestar. "Ha! FOOLISH!" Snapped a WindClan warrior. "Let them go!" Swiftnight demanded. "Ha! And listen to you?!" snapped the warrior again. "Get them!" the warrior demanded. A pack of warriors came and pinned the group down. "You'll never get away with this!" Hissed Swiftnight. Rosethorn finally got free and was halfway out of the wire. "I don't think so!" The warrior bit the back of Rosethorn's legs. "MRRROOOOWWWW!!!!!!" Rosethorn yowled in pain. The warrior also snapped the back of Hollyberry's wounded legs. Hollyberry left out a painfull yowl. Rosethorn struggled to get Hollyberry but a orange warrior came and flung Rosethorn in a den with wired fence around it. "Ooof! Agh! You are this close to dying!" hissed Rosethorn. "Calm down, Rosethorn. Threatening them isn't going to make things better." Hollyberry said trying to calm Rosethorn down. "Where's Firestar?" Rosethorn asked. "In another prisoner den I think." Hollyberry replied.  Rosethorn saw something familiar.

 "Hey, look at the fence. It's the same fence we find in the Twoleg's garden." Rosethorn said as she limped to the fence. "We can easily get over the fence." said Hollyberry as she leaped over the fence. "These WindClan cats aren't as smart as they look." Rosethorn said as she leaped over the fence to meet Hollyberry.  Rosethorn smelled something... unusual... She knew it was a scent of trouble. All of the sudden, Hollyberry's ears are twitching, flicking, ect. "What's wrong?" Rosethorn asked as she walked over to her friend to calm her down. "I hear.... A pack of dogs."

                                            Chapter 1

"Do you think he'll accept us back?" asked Hollyberry. A silver she-cat with blue eyes and white paws that shimmered in the sun. Rosethorn nodded while carrying a mouth full of rats. She was a black and white she-cat with white paws and green eyes. "Lets hope he does." said Hollyberry a little worried this time. They entered the ThunderClan territory. As they entered the camp. They knew the clan would except them back. "I thought I smelled stray!" spat a black tom. The two cats walked toward the leader and threw the pile of rats in front of him. "What is that?!" hissed a orange tabby she-cat. "Ugh! Rats!" spat the black tom once more. "Well, it's better that crowfood." said Cinderpelt as she walked out of her den. "Hello, Rosethorn, Hollyberry. What brings you here?" asked Firestar. "We bring you food. It's the only food we can find since it's leaf-bare." answered Hollyberry. "What do you want?" asked Firestar. "We want to be accepted back into the clan." asked Rosethorn. "Hmmm... You are the best fighter, Rosethorn. And, Hollyberry, you are the wisest. We haven't found any other warriors as great as you." said Firestar. "I think we need you back." said Firestar. "So you are gonna take the kittypets back?!" spat the black tom again. Rosethorn flashed him a look that hushed him up a bit. "We need these two. They are our best warriors." said Firestar. "Are you willing to take us back?" asked Hollyberry. "Yes. The clan needs you two." said Firestar. "Rosethorn, Hollyberry, you are now part of ThunderClan." said Firestar. "Thank you, Firestar." thanked the two warriors. "I missed you guys." said Cinderpelt as she touched her nose on their soft coats. As the two did the same thing with Cinderpelt. "We missed you two." said Hollyberry. A brown and black tabby came with pine needles and snow stuck in his fur. "Pineleaf!" called Rosethorn as she ran toward him to touch noses. "You guys are back!" shouted Pineleaf as he  swished his tail happily. "It's been so long!" said Hollyberry. "It's so great to see you guys! We were hopeless without you guys." said Pineleaf. "You got pine needles stuck in your fur again." said Rosethorn as she tried to brush the needles off. "It's been so many moons." said Pineleaf. "Yes it has!" said Hollyberry. "Well it's getting late. We better be getting some rest." said Rosethorn. "Of course! That was a long journey over here." said Pinefeaf. "Have a good rest." "Thank you, Pinefeaf." Rosethorn thanked Pinefeaf and rested.

"WAKE UP!" Rosethorn jumped to her feet quickly. The black tom woke her and Hollyberry. "What is is Hawkeye?!" asked Hollyberry. "Tonight we have a gathering and you kittypets get to come." spat Hawkeye. "That's enough, Hawkeye!" hissed Firestar. "You two will go hunting for food." Firestar ordered. "Yes, Firestar." The two warriors disappeared into the trees. "Quiet." whispered Rosethorn. "I smell rats." whispered Hollyberry. Hollyberry crept up the the rat quietly and grabbed it by the neck and killed it. "MRROOOOOOWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!" a howl echoed through the whole forest. "That sounded like... Pineleaf!" gasped Rosethorn. "BACK TO THE CAMP!" Hollyberry ordered. The warriors sped as fast as the could. When they got to the camp they saw enemy warriors. "WindClan!" gasped Hollyberry. They two warriors jumped into the battle. Rosethorn jumps on a white tom and bites his leg. He flips and her soft belly is shown he slashes her belly and the yowled "HOLLYBERRY!!!! HELP ME!!!!!" Hollyberry bit her opponent's neck and leaped on the white enemy warrior saving Rosethorn. Rosethorn jumped on a black tom and pinned her down. And finally all the WindClan cats retreated. "They took, Firestar!" Hollyberry shouted.
